Privacy Policy — Nowlet

Last updated 17 September 2026.

Nowlet is made by one person. This policy describes what the app actually does, and it is written to be checked against the app rather than to cover the author.

The short version: everything you write stays on your phone. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you switch something on, and every switch is off when you install it.

What stays on your device

Your tasks, notes, focus sessions, history, settings and everything else you type are stored on your phone and nowhere else. There is no account, and Nowlet works completely with no internet connection at all.

If you uninstall the app, that data is deleted with it. You can take a copy out at any time from Your data → Export, and bring it back the same way.

Things that are off unless you turn them on

Each of these is off when you install Nowlet. Each one is a separate switch, and each can be turned back off.

Cloud sync

If you turn on Keep a copy in the cloud, your tasks are copied to Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication) so that your other devices can read them. The copy on your device stays the real one.

You are signed in anonymously by default — no email, no name. You may add an email address later so the account can be recovered if you lose your device; if you do, that address is stored by Firebase Authentication.

Turning sync off stops the copying. You can delete the cloud copy from within the app.

Calendar

If you turn on Notice what is coming up, Nowlet asks Android for permission to read your calendar, and reads the title, start time, end time and all-day flag of entries in the next few hours.

This is read fresh each time and never stored. It is not written to Nowlet's database, it is not in an export, and it is not included in cloud sync. Nothing from your calendar leaves your phone.

If you use Put this day on my calendar in the week view, Nowlet asks for permission to write, and adds a single all-day note to one calendar on your phone listing what you hoped to do that day. It has no time and no reminder. It only ever replaces or removes entries it created itself, and you can remove it from within Nowlet or from your calendar app.

Anonymous usage counts

If you turn on usage recording, Nowlet counts things like how many tasks were completed. These counts stay on your device and are shown back to you. The text of anything you wrote is never recorded — only lengths and counts.

Dictation

If you use the microphone button, your speech is handled by your phone's own speech recognition, which on most Android phones means Google. That is the same service your keyboard uses, and it is governed by your device's settings.

Notifications

If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled on your device by your device. Nothing is sent from a server.

Payments

If you support the app, the purchase is handled by Google Play and by RevenueCat, which tells the app whether a subscription is active. Nowlet never sees your card details. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase history for this app.

If you stop supporting the app, nothing you have written is taken away, hidden, locked, or deleted.

What Nowlet never does

Diagnostics

Builds distributed directly by the author keep a small error log on the device, so that a problem can be described when there is no other way to see it. It is never uploaded. You can read it and share it deliberately by tapping the version line in Settings, and it contains error messages rather than your tasks.

Children

Nowlet is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights over your data

Because your data is on your own device, you already hold it:

If you have used sync and want the cloud copy removed after uninstalling, write to the address below and it will be deleted.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your device, the app will say so before the change takes effect.
